· Fuel caps are vented on the 1 series and 4105. Can't see why they wouldn't be on the 5 series. Also, some members have had trouble with bad fuel
· If I buy a non vented gas cap will I run into trouble? Also, I was thinking about buying 2 so that the tank will have matching caps ( i dont' really care about having a fuel gauge)any clever ideas for making a screw in pop up cap fit in the fuel gauge hole? Thanks for any advise. Jon
· My gas cap has the vent hole, but the tank does not, so any venting will just go out right there at the gas cap. I don't think that's a problem unless occasionally some liquid makes it through the vent (like dropping the bike off road), then there would be a little bit of gas around the cap which on my 2016 would normally go through a second drain tube out below the bike onto the ground.
· Jul 7, 2014. #4. Stock and replacement fuel caps are vented already. There is a check valve in the center to allow air to enter the tank but not allow fuel vapor out. If you want an open vent cap, then get a pick and root around in the hole in the center of the cap and pull out the small hair spring in there.
· Vented caps (especially nowadays) are only vented in not out so harmful fumes don't escape into the atmosphere. Same thing happened to me but I believe my A1000 pump and the large amount of return fuel from my regulator contributed to my problem, almost blew the cap across the gas station when I spun the cap off real fast once.
· It has to vent both ways and what is happening is that when the fuel pump pulls gas from the tank there is no air going in thought the vented cap to replace the gas. Just the opposite happens when the rig sits in the hot sun. the cap doesn't vent and pressure builds up in the tank.
· Gas caps have not been vented since the introduction of evaporative emission controls/SMOG control on cars many years ago. All modern vehicles use a non vented cap. Using a non vented cap on a car from the 1960's that required a vented cap can cause the car to run for a while until the fuel system draws a vacuum in the gas tank.
· Vented, Vent-Free, and Direct Vent. Gas logs can be vented or vent-free, or you could go a step above and install direct vent. Each option is suited to different kinds of homeowners. Vented gas logs are best for customers that require only a small amount of radiant heat but like the appearance of a roaring fire. While vented gas logs will
· 1972 El Camino body on restomod. 350 with turbo 350 transmission. I know this question has been asked before but I can't seem to find a correct answer. I removed all the evap lines and cannister and capped those outlets on the gas tank. Should I be using a vented or non-vented gas tank cap now
· Vented Gas Cap Function The vented gas cap is designed to vent small amounts of air into the car gas tank line. The vented gas cap has a one-way release valve that is pressure-activated. Air is allowed in, but no fumes are allowed out of the gas cap , because of environmental concerns.
Venting gas stoves may seem like a good idea if you notice gassy smells and feel like there has been a leakage of the cooking gas. But you should touch any electrical switch at that time to prevent any electric spark. Just open the doors and windows and contact your gas supplier immediately.
· Another update for gas caps is the slow-release feature that allows fuel vapor to slowly release instead of the sudden poof of older sealed tanks. Ever wonder why some cars have a sticker inside the gas cap door that says “open slowly” that is there to control the vapor release on hot days.

· The best of the CARB-cans in my experience come from the No-Spill company. These cans have many of the drawbacks that all of the new cans share, like hard to open, locking tops (especially in the cold), obnoxious caps that prevent the nozzle from fitting in gas tanks, what seem to be a terribly confusing spout assemblies, and finally, a ridiculously high price tag for all that pain.

It's just a plastic sleeve with a grub screw at the top. I guess the idea is the grub screw fits a bit loose and air is pulled by the treads as the tank goes negative atmosphere.
The vented gas cap is designed to vent small amounts of air into the car gas tank line. The vented gas cap has a one-way release valve that is pressure-activated. When the pressure reaches a certain point (defined by so many pounds per square inch) the valve opens by
· Gents, I have installed a Petro works 15 gallon fuel tank in the TT. It is the non-fuel pump version tank, as it's for the vw diesel. Of the three oem hard fuel lines, I'm using the thick one for the fuel out to engine, the middle one is the fuel return line, and I'm not using the thinnest hard line at all.
· This is why solid and fully vented gas caps even exist. They are not designed for use on our cars though. The reason for the check valve stopping the air from going out is that any air that goes out will have fuel vapor in it. If the fuel vapor goes out, it pollutes the air. They call it "evaporative emissions".
Vented gas caps The fuel system is air locking, the old oil cap seals the tank tight causing the flow of gas to the carburetor to slow down and eventually stop. Piercing a hole in the makeshift oil cap will fix the stalling issue, but fuel may seep from around the vent holes.
· Not-vented gas caps were used through the 1969 model year. The tank itself has a vent at the front of the tank, but the cap is imprinted "NOT VENTED." Beginning with the 1970 model year the "VENTED" gas caps were used. The '70 Chevelle's fuel system included pollution control

The evaporative system has a little pump in it to check for leaks in the fuel system and if the cap is vented, that leak test will find it and generate a Check Engine light. And there are enough aftermarket non-vented gas caps sold by stores like Autozone that

· The vented gas cap is designed to vent small amounts of air into the car gas tank line. The vented gas cap has a one-way release valve that is pressure-activated. In this case, the pressure is formed on the outside of the tank, due to the vacuum formed from the displacement of fuel on the inside. Should there be pressure when removing gas cap?
· If you still have your charcoal canister and the vent line is not plugged up, I'd say buy the non-vented gas cap. If the canister has been removed and the line going to it has been plugged up, then you will need a vented cap. The gas tank needs to breath and without a
